Homemade Granola Recipes

Granola, specifically the oats, features high amounts of iron and fiber. Adding in other ingredients like nuts and seeds, provides you with good amounts of protein and unsaturated fats. But, have you seen the prices for granola at your local grocery store? Why pay $4 or more when you can make your own at home!


Honey, Nuts and Seeds Granola- Makes 4-6 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups of old-fashioned oats (Also called rolled oats)
¾ cup of almonds, chopped fine
1/3 cup of sunflower seeds
2 ½ tablespoons of honey, preferably raw
2 ½ tablespoons of canola oil
½ teaspoon of sea salt

Directions:
• Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
• In a bowl, combine all the ingredients and toss to mix and coat well.
• On a baking sheet, spread a layer of the granola mixture.
• Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until toasted, lightly.
• Allow to cool.
• Serve.
• Any unused granola can be stored for up to 14 days, in a sealed container.


Cinnamon and Honey Granola- Makes 10 servings

Ingredients:
3 ½ cups of old-fashioned oats (Also called rolled oats)
¼ teaspoon of sea salt
1 cup of walnuts, chopped
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 cup of corn oil
2/3 cup of honey, preferably raw
½ teaspoon of almond extract

Directions:

• Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
• In a bowl, mix together oats, sea salt, walnuts and cinnamon.
• In another bowl, mix together corn oil, honey and almond extract.
• Next, add the corn oil mixture to the oats mixture and toss to mix and coat well.
• Using 2 foil-lined baking sheets, spread a layer of the granola mixture.
• Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until toasted, golden-colored.
• Allow to cool.
• Serve.
• Any unused granola can be stored for up to 14 days, in a sealed container.


Pumpkin and Coconut Granola- Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:
3 cups of old-fashioned oats (Also called rolled oats)
1 cup of dried cherries
¾ cup of pumpkin seeds
½ cup of coconut flakes
½ cup of honey, preferably raw
¼ cup of peanut oil
¼ teaspoon of sea salt

Directions:
• Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
• In a bowl, mix together oats, dried cherries, pumpkin seeds and coconut flakes.
• In another bowl, mix together honey, peanut oil and sea salt.
• Next, add the oat mixture to the honey mixture and toss to mix and coat well.
• Using a baking sheet, spread a layer of the granola mixture.
• Bake for 45 minutes.
• Allow to cool.
• Serve.
• Any unused granola can be stored for up to 14 days, in a sealed container.

    Oh yum I love granola. It is one of those things that you could eat all day no long but I have never tried making my own. That definitely needs to change! x

    I love homemade granola. You can control all the flavors, don’t add raisins, add more sunflower seeds, whatever you want!

    I love granola, but I have never made my own. I would not have thought it to be as simple as mix ingredients and and back. I’ll have to search out for ingredients I love and attempt it.

    Homemade granola is the best. I love the idea of customizing it to my taste preferences and being able to control the amount of type of sugar I use.

    I like to make homemade granola too! It’s nice to be able to control what goes into it because so many store bought brands have so much added sugar!

    Oh how I wish that we ate granola in my house but unless it’s in a bar covered in chocolate it’s unlikely to be eaten in my house lol these sounds yummy though

    I love making granola! Your recipes look like they would be delicious – especially that Pumpkin Coconut Granola. YUM!! I have a vegan granola recipe that was given tome by my sister’s uncle that is some of the best I’ve ever had.

Sorry Kanye, but this is the greatest of all time. Sorry Kanye, but this is the greatest of all time. The Goat of all soups. And it’s easy to make too. 

🍁 Vegetable Soup 
Here’s what you need: 
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 cups chopped yellow onion (1 medium)
2 cups peeled and chopped carrots (about 5)
1 1/4 cups chopped celery (about 3)
4 cloves garlic , minced
4 (14.5 oz) cans low-sodium chicken broth* or vegetable broth
2 (14.5 oz) cans diced tomatoes (undrained)
3 cups peeled and 1/2-inch thick diced potatoes (from about 3 medium)
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 bay leaves
1/2 tsp dried thyme
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups chopped frozen or fresh green beans
1 1/4 cups frozen or fresh corn
1 cup frozen or fresh peas 

Instructions:

🍁 Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. 
🍁 Add onions, carrots, and celery and saute 4 minutes then add garlic and saute 30 seconds longer.
🍁 Add in broth, tomatoes, potatoes, parsley, bay leaves, thyme and season with salt and pepper to taste*.
🍁 Bring to a boil, then add green beans. 
🍁 Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until potatoes are almost fully tender, about 20 - 30 minutes. 
🍁 Add corn and peas and cook 5 minutes longer. Serve warm.
