#McFarland USA: How Does Your Familia Inspire You? #MiFamilia #Giveaway

This is part of a sponsored campaign with DiMe Media and Buena Vista Home Entertainment. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

How does your familia inspire you?

My outlook on life has definitely changed since I became a parent almost 14 years ago and my goal is to teach my kids the importance of family, being there for one another and working hard to achieve their goals.

Mi familia (or family) is my life and is at the heart of almost every decision I make on a daily basis. They inspire me to work hard so that they can have opportunities in life to do things others may not.  I learned from a young age that things are not handed to you in life and that you must work in order to achieve goals or things that you want.

And this motivation stems back to what I learned from my grandparents, whom we lived next to growing up.  They didn’t have access to some of the things we have now and work and determination is what pushed them to succeed in life.

Today, my kids motivate me!

Because of all I’ve learned, I want my children to learn the values I did.  Education is important.  Giving up is not an option.  You really can be anything that you want to be and having the heart and attitude of a champion will get you far.

Champions can come from anywhere and Disney’s movie McFarland proves it!  I had the chance to check out this movie and my kids did as well.  And oh what valuable lessons can be learned from this one!

Based on the true story of a 1987 cross country team from predominantly Mexican-American McFarland High School, in McFarland, California, the film stars Kevin Costner as Jim White, the school’s coach, who leads the team to win a state championship. The common themes from the movie are inspiration and family and how these two combine to motivate these unlikely athletes to a fantastic victory. The story is not only about a personal sports victory, but how a community was inspired to keep pursuing their dreams in a new country as well. This real story will be available for the first time on Blu-ray Comb Pack & Disney Movies Anywhere this June! And we are giving a lucky reader the chance to win McFarland USA on DVD.

Who motivates you to be your best? Check out Disney’s McFarland USA for a true inspiration and make sure you connect with them on Facebook to learn more about this story of family support and determination!

My parents have always inspired me. They don’t want me to settle for anything less that I deserve. We have had close relationships and I can’t thank them enough for their support.

  • Being there for one another …. yeah, not something my family has done for me but something that because of that experience my husband and I will surely teach and lead by example for our kids. Family is important and it’s sad that not all people believe or live this. 🙁

  • I still need to see this movie. I heard a little a bit about the story it’s based on so I’m excited!

  • This looks so good! My family inspires me everyday by just being here. Since becoming a mom they’ve all been my life!

  • I almost forgot about this movie coming up, it looks really good! I can just imagine how motivational it’s going to be.

  • I wanted to see this movie it looked really good! It looks really motivational

  • Sounds like a great movie. I’ll watch it with mi familia 🙂

Education is so important. I am so grateful that my oldest son who said he would never go to college is now graduating high school and is enrolled to start college over the summer.

My mom inspires me to dream big and make it happen 🙂

  • I saw this movie last week for the 1st time. What a great movie, very inspirational and heartwarming!

  • I love this movie!! I took my mother to see it and she is still talking about it.

  • My grandparents, my husband and my children are all my inspirations, but after reading this I just have to comment on on a certain part of your post…

“Education is important. Giving up is not an option. You really can be anything that you want to be and having the heart and attitude of a champion will get you far.”

That is completely brilliant. I literally paused to reread that over again because it’s so true and such a powerful message to equip your child/ren with. It’s one that I am teaching to my children as well and it’s so refreshing to know that I’m not alone in my quest.

You, my friend, are also an inspiration.

  • I totally missed this in Theatre and I cannot wait to catch up. Thanks for the giveaway

  • My parents inspire me
