When it comes to back-to-school season, parents nationwide begin the search for not only supplies and a new wardrobe, but the most challenging thing of all: a great-tasting and wholesome lunch their kids will actually eat and enjoy.

And my 12-year-old daughter started packing her lunch last year religiously. So this year we are looking for some different and healthier options to put into her lunch box on a daily basis instead of her go-to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Instead of the regular lunch meat, we tried Hillshire Farm Naturals. We typically like Hillshire Farm lunch meat, so this was a no-brainer to try since “natural” is the way to go these days. Hillshire Farm is a brand that is known for making lunchtime offerings with farm-inspired craftsmanship and is now taking natural goodness to a new level with the launch of Hillshire Farm Naturals™. And at $4.48 per package at Walmart, you can’t go wrong.

What I like about Hillshire Farm Naturals is that this particular line of lunch meat contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives, colors or added nitrites/nitrates Except those occurring naturally in celery juice.

And instead of having to take the lunchmeat and store it in a plastic bag after taking out the first slice, Hillshire Farm Naturals is packaged in double-sealed, re-sealable tubs that lock in freshness and great taste. The line features four varieties including: Slow Roasted Turkey Breast, Hardwood Smoked Turkey Breast, Honey Roasted Ham, and Black Forest Ham.

Autumn has been taking the slow roasted turkey breast sandwiches with cheese to school and in her own words told me, “that sandwich was awesome!” Then, I made my two youngest their favorite…grilled turkey and cheese. They were a hit!

  • I’ll have to take a look at the Hillshire brand, it sounds great. We stopped eating luncheon meats a while bag because of all the preservatives. Thanks.

Hillshire has great meats, I love them and buy them for my Family.

  • I love the idea of “contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives, colors or added nitrites/nitrates.” Atta go, Mamasita! 🙂

  • These are perfect for school lunches. They taste great and they are convenient to have in the refrigerator during the week.

  • I schieved prepackaged meats for a while. Until I tried HF – their deli meats are great.

  • My kids loved Hillshire Farms turkey sandwiches, and I have to say we fed my beloved Newfoundland HF turkey every day too!

  • My kids are onto the roast turkey lunchmeat with cheese in their sandwiches for school.

  • I love turkey! I haven’t tried this kind out yet. I’ll look for some when I’m in the store next!

  • We love Hilshire Farms but I didn’t know they were making natural lunch meats. I will be looking for these and giving them a try this week.

  • I love making sandwiches with lunch meat. My favourite is honey ham and Provolone cheese.

  • Turkey is very healthy for you and even better it’s also delicious!

  • We just tried this meat out last week and WE LOVE IT! It was a huge hit with the kids and for me it was even better because it’s natural and there’s no yucky ingredients. I’m pleased as punch with this product. Thank you for sharing!

  • Anything that leaves out all the junk is great in my book. Have not tried this particular product, but Hillshire Farms are always good.

  • I get so grossed out with deli packaging and prefer this container way better. I just started packing lunch for my youngest because she’s so picky and now I can make turkey wraps which are so easy for her to pick up and eat.

  • I absolutely love these! The slow roasted turkey is my favorite and I love how easy these are to store.
