Weighting Patiently: So Far, So Good…I Think?

It has been a torturous week, let me tell you. Change is hard and I always knew that. But cutting out coffee (for the most part) and substituting my breakfasts with a shake isn’t exactly my idea of pleasant, especially when I looked forward to that coffee each and every morning.

I told my trainer that I cut coffee out and she said, “You don’t have to cut coffee out entirely! Just try to drink it black…no creamer or added sugar, etc.” While we are being honest here, coffee for me isn’t coffee unless it has creamer in it. To go even further, you could say I enjoy coffee with my creamer. Sick, right?!

Needless to say, every day this week I have been drinking my shakes in the morning and having a light lunch. And what I mean by light lunch, I mean portioned. This week the popular item has been a half salami sandwich with cheese, spinach and jalapenos. No butter. No mayo. Sides have included cottage cheese and fresh strawberries. I also had a few of those fun Easter Robin Eggs to satisfy my sweet tooth. Better than 20 Easter Robin Eggs, right?

So changes are being made…very slowly. I have been keeping up with my 30 minute workout regimen 5 days a week and plan to step it up just a tad this week.

Tuesday is the big day to see whether these small (albeit BIG changes in my mind) changes have led to any sort of weight loss. Please oh please.

    It is a mental challenge for me! I have a friend that always says “Mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it don’t matter.”

  • I had the trainer tell me the same thing, and honestly i do not drink it any other way since.

  • You are not alone!! I definitely have coffee with my creamer! Even worse, mochas!! I think I’d have to cut it out all together too.

  • I’m like you. I drink coffee with my creamer. 🙂 But I only drink coffee on Sundays after church or when my hubs want to share with me. He is the addict.

    It takes a month or three to change habits I read. It will definitely become a way of life soon with your changes.

  • I feel for you! I love my coffee…and my creamer. I think I would drink it black if I had to, just because I like my morning caffeine fix, but I definitely love that creamer! When I was pregnant, I quit my coffee cold turkey until later in the pregnancy, after the miscarriage risk was lower. I started adding it in slowly until I was at 8 oz a day. Then after I had my son, I still had to be careful for the first year because I was breastfeeding. When he weaned, I was thrilled to start drinking more coffee finally!!

  • I totally understand your coffee woes. I look forward to my morning coffee from the moment I wake up until it meets my lips. And coffee is not coffee, and does not give me that enjoyable, sweet moments without creamer! I don’t think I would be able to completely cut out the coffee I have come to love so much. Good luck!

  • I’ve started making shakes for breakfast and I thought I would hate it but I really don’t! These are great changes to get you started!

  • Change is hard! I have noticed it myself also. I have been doing gradual change lately, hopefully they will lead into a big change for the rest of my life 🙂

  • Must be tough cutting those caffeine, i think ill survive if i am foucs and decipline. i might want to try this and start going to bed early and eat right. patience is a virtue, sounds cliche but it always work great

  • I could not agree more! Change is really difficult especially if you get accustomed with it. But I guess if you recognize something that should be changed to make you a better person, it is worth doing.
